The colloquium focused on water resources at a local, regional, national, and international level, and featured researchers with established water resources research programs. Individuals, private consultants, public administrators, managers, policy makers, and those interested in learning more about international research activities were among the participants.

COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY REGIONAL BIOCONTAINMENT LAB FIRST TO START RESEARCH

The Rocky Mountain Regional Biocontainment Laboratory at Colorado State University has formally received "select agent" research approval from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, making it the first lab of its kind in the country to begin studying these highly regulated bioterrorism agents.

The number of natural disasters recorded globally has increased fourfold during the past three decades, growing from fewer than 100 in 1975 to more than 400 in 2005. Colorado State University researcher Lori Peek is guest editor of the new issue of the journal, "Children, Youth and Environments," which explores the vulnerability and resilience of children in natural disasters.
